Calvin and I landed in San Diego, California Wednesday
evening and headed straight to our destination in La Jolla, a small tourist
town right outside of San Diego. I was so ready to go down to the beach and
relax but Calvin insisted that we get ready for dinner and then go to the
beach. I asked Calvin what should I wear something casual or dressy he says
he’s going to dress casual so I’m thinking dinner is nothing fancy and we are
just going to go down to the beach and watch the sunset before dinner. We get
down to the “spot” right off the La Jolla cove, this view is amazing!! I see
stairs and immediately want to go down but Calvin insisted again that we should
go where there is less people, so he starts walking towards people?? Half way
to the bridge where he wants to go he then stops and says wait lets go back so
there we go turning around going down to the same stairs I had originally said
lets go to. Little did I know that he was trying to figure out the spot the
photographer was at and had no idea where he was going. Lol We finally make it
down the stairs and I’m so amazed by the view, I’m turned facing the ocean
taking a video on my phone and when I turn back around and see Calvin down on
one knee. I am so in shock that I thought he was joking and told him to get up
(omg) and asked is this real he then proceeds to ask me to marry him! I don't remember fully what he said
or how I replied, I just know my heart had never been so full! And of course I
said YES A MILLION TIMES. It was absolutely perfect! We had an entire crowd
around clapping and congratulating us afterwards. Calvin’s such a romantic and
had a photographer taking photos the whole time, it’s so amazing looking at
them now and having no idea he was about to propose. We had such a blast with
Mike and his wife taking pictures after the proposal. Calvin and I both said
that our cheeks were hurting from smiling so much, but definitely worth it.
I have always dreamed of the day that I found someone who
loves me for me and expected all my imperfections. I can finally say that I
have found that man, and I cannot wait to see what’s in store for our future
together. Calvin and I met summer of 2013 through a mutual friend and instantly
became best friends. I remember my friend saying “you’re gonna like him” He
pulled up to pick me up from Chuy’s Mexican restaurant in his mini cooper, and
when I first saw him and was like geezz he’s such a cutie, way out of my league.
But we instantly clicked, and we were inseparable that summer. I remember
spending just about every weekend together before I left for college in august.
We were either dancing at Wild West in Lubbock or driving back roads in
Monahans. Summer came to an end and we eventually went our different ways, but
it never failed that anytime I was in west Texas we would run into each other
and it was like things had never changed. A couple years went by and I decided
I was going to move back to Lubbock. Then a thing happened, and I ran into Calvin
again September 2017 we became a couple and ever since then I can’t let him go.
I have always wanted to marry Calvin James and now I am FINALLY GOING TO BE A
FRANKS, still feels so unreal but I am so excited to start wedding planning!
Thank you ALL for the sweet comments and messages these past
few weeks. We are over the moon!!
